Davenolt Gazette
01 — The Publication

Founded in Bloomsbury. Archived from the Kitchen.

Davenolt Gazette began in 2023 as a personal record kept by two writers who wanted to document, rather than prescribe, what a considered eating life looked like in practice — across seasons, budgets, and the ordinary pressures of working days in London.

02 — The Story

From a Personal Record to a Published Gazette

The publication emerged from a simple premise: that the most useful writing about nutrition is observational rather than prescriptive. The mainstream wellness conversation is dominated by directives — what to eat, when to eat, how much. Davenolt Gazette was founded on a different editorial instinct: to record what actually happens when attentive people try to eat well in the conditions of an ordinary urban life.

The name was chosen for its archival quality. A gazette is a record of events. Davenolt, the founding stem, holds no specific meaning — it was generated to be distinct and pronounceable, free of the wellness-brand vocabulary that had come to feel exhausted. Together they suggest: a document, not a movement.

Three years of field notes later, the publication covers balanced nutrition, meal planning, seasonal cooking, hydration habits, and the intersection of everyday physical activity with nutritional practice. All articles are editorial in nature, written by people with direct experience of their subject matter and reviewed before publication.

04 — What We Stand For

Editorial Values

01 — Observation Over Directive

Recording, Not Directing

The publication does not issue nutritional directives. Every article documents what was observed — in kitchens, at markets, across food journals — and allows readers to draw their own conclusions. The editorial voice is that of a careful witness, not an authority.

02 — Source Transparency

Cited, Not Claimed

Where articles draw on published nutritional research, sources are identified and cited. The Gazette does not make nutritional claims it cannot support with reference to published dietary guidelines or peer-reviewed research. Claims of the form "research shows..." are only used when the research is identified by institution or publication.

03 — Seasonal & Local Focus

The Market as Method

Seasonal cooking is both an editorial subject and an organising principle. The publication's calendar follows the London food calendar: the first forced rhubarb of February, the wild garlic of April, the glut of courgettes in late July. Seasonal availability shapes the plate's character more reliably than any formal meal plan.

04 — Commercial Independence

No Product Endorsements

Davenolt Gazette does not carry product endorsements, affiliate links, or sponsored content. Writers are required to disclose any commercial relationships relevant to their subject matter. The publication operates on an editorial-first model: no article is written because it serves a commercial relationship. This independence is the foundation of the publication's credibility.

05 — Editorial Notice

Davenolt Gazette is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.
